Tire change
Tire change service: your spare put on where you are
You have a flat and a spare, but no jack that works, no way to break the lug nuts loose, or no safe place to do it. Call us. We check for a local pro who can come take the flat off and put your spare on.

- Is there a spare? Look under the trunk floor, under the back of the car, or on the tailgate. Many newer cars do not have one. Consumer Reports says about 45 percent of the new cars it has tested since 2020 came with no spare. Some have a can of sealant and a small air pump instead.
- Does the spare have air? A small donut spare needs 60 psi, which is far more than a normal tire. Spares sit for years and go soft. If yours is flat too, tell us when you call.
- Do you have the wheel lock key? If one lug nut on each wheel looks different from the rest, your car has wheel locks. The key is a small socket, often in the glove box or with the jack. Without it the wheel may not come off.
No spare, or the spare is no good?
You still have choices. If the hole is small and in the tread, the tire may be repairable where it sits. If not, ask about a new tire brought to you.
After the spare is on
A small donut spare is only meant to get you to a tire shop. Keep it under 50 mph, and have the lug nuts checked after the first 50 to 100 miles. Our guide covers the rest: how long can you drive on a spare tire? Not sure whether to move the car at all? See can you drive on a flat tire?
Should you just do it yourself?
In your own driveway, on flat ground, with the right tools, sure. On the shoulder of a highway, we would not. Traffic is what makes it dangerous. If you cannot get well away from moving cars, stay buckled in and call for help.
What it costs
A tire change is one of the simpler roadside jobs. The price depends on where you are, the time of day and your vehicle. Ask for the full price on the phone before you agree to anything.
