Tire replacement

Mobile tire replacement

Some flats cannot be fixed. When that happens you do not always need a tow to a tire shop. Call us and ask about a replacement tire brought to you and put on where the car is parked.

Have your tire size ready

The size is printed on the side of the tire. It looks like 225/65R17. Read us the whole thing, including the letters and numbers after it if you can.

A tire size reading 225/65R17. 225 is the width in millimeters. 65 is the sidewall height as a percent of the width. R means radial. 17 is the wheel size in inches.
What the numbers on the side of your tire mean.

Then we check what a local pro can get in that size. Common sizes are easier to find than rare ones. If nobody near you can get your size, we tell you on the phone.

When a tire has to be replaced

What happenedWhy it cannot be repaired
Cut or hole in the sidewallTire makers do not allow sidewall repairs. The sidewall flexes too much to hold one.
Hole bigger than 1/4 inchToo big to seal safely.
You drove on it flatMichelin says even a short distance on a flat tire can damage it inside.
Tread worn down to 2/32 of an inchThat is where NHTSA says to replace a tire. Put a penny in the tread, head down. If you can see the top of Lincoln's head, the tire is done.
The tire is oldSome car and tire makers say to replace tires that are six to ten years old, even if the tread looks fine.

One tire or two?

It depends on how worn the other tires are and what you drive. Tell us the car and how old the other tires are, and ask the tech what your car's maker calls for. Do not let anyone sell you four tires over the phone before somebody has looked at them.

A blowout is a warning

NHTSA counted 511 deaths in tire-related crashes in 2024. Low air, worn tread and old tires are the things NHTSA tells drivers to watch. After a blowout, have the other three checked, including the air pressure. The right pressure is on the sticker inside the driver's door, not on the side of the tire.

While you wait for a tire

If you have a spare, it can go on in the meantime. See how long you can drive on a spare. And if a shop told you your tire only needs a plug, read tire plug vs patch first.

What it costs

You pay for the tire and for the work of bringing it and putting it on. Prices swing a lot by tire size and brand. Ask for the full price, tire and labor together, before you agree to anything.
